Therapeutic Gardens
The Troyer Group recognizes the importance of interaction between people and the environment, and has developed a special interest in the role of therapeutic gardens. Known by many names, the purpose of these gardens is to enrich people's lives through interaction with nature and the outdoors.
Depending on the intended users and goals, a garden can take an active role in healing and creating a sense of autonomy, or it can provide a space where people of all abilities can enjoy and relax.
We have developed universally-designed demonstration gardens that provide education tools and create spaces for active and passive interaction with the garden. In addition, we have experience in the design of rooftop gardens for hospitals that are utilized for psychiatric patients and waiting areas. These spaces provide an oasis from the stress often associated with these facilities.
